Video game manners are not something you hear about often but it’s something that should be talked about more.
Phone Games
When playing games on your phone, be considerate of the company you keep. If you are visiting a friend, visit with your friend and keep your face out of your phone. Going to dinner with a friend is not a time to be playing games on your phone. To some of you this might seem like common sense but there are TONS of people who do this.
Watch That Rating
Don’t play video games around children younger than the rating on the game. What I mean is, if you are playing a game rated 14+, then children under 14 shouldn’t be in the room. You’d be surprised how much young children can pick up on. My one year old repeats things from TV and has shown understanding of some things she’s seen. My 4 year old gets nightmares from scary things that aren’t for his age. The ESRB rating is there for a reason.
Spoilers!
Don’t spoil the ending of a video game! If your friend hasn’t gotten as far as you, don’t tell him what comes next. Would you want an ending spoiled for you?
YELLING
In a game, don’t type in ALL CAPS. When chatting or texting or any kind of reading online, ALL CAPS signifies yelling.
Hissy Fit
Just got killed in the game? You almost got where you needed to be and then got thwarted? It really sucks I know but don’t be THE ONE that throws a major fit and throws the gaming paddle across the room. It’s no fun to play with someone like that, watch someone play like that, or really, even BE that.
