I received Monopoly Junior from Influenster to test and review. All opinions are my own.
NEW Version of Monopoly Junior
Monopoly Junior has been around since the 90s but has changed to this new updated version with an easier game play. Monopoly Junior is a shorter and easier version of Monopoly for kids or perhaps anyone who wants to play but doesn’t want to be playing for hours.
The game is for 4 people who can be one of the four characters: car, boat, cat and dog. (Yes the Scottie dog from regular Monopoly in a larger, coloured version.) Instead of putting houses and hotels on properties, you simply put cardboard pieces on your property when you buy it. You earn commission on your properties when someone else lands on them. They simply pay you the same price you paid for it (price is on the board) unless you own both properties from the same colour in which case they owe you double.
The monopoly money is all single white bills in this version so it’s easy to count out $2 or $4 monopoly dollars. You will still find the chance cards but they are all pretty similar with things like buy the next yellow property or something similar.
The Kids Thoughts
My kids enjoyed playing it (ages 7, 8 and 3) although my three year old had an adult helper since the game is for ages 5 and up. I must admit it wasn’t as exciting for me as an adult as I’d prefer a family game to be but it is mainly for the kids after all. It’s simple enough that my seven and eight year old could play on their own.
I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
