Watching my husband play God of War PS4 has made me realize what a great game it was and I wanted to share with you.

Story: Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.

God of War PS4

God of War came out April 2018 and is the fourth game in the series.

Story

The addition of a son to the story does NOT detract from it’s awesomeness like some (who haven’t even played the game) have suggested. The story shows the progression from barely knowing his son or how to treat him to growing closer to him and imparting knowledge on him while learning from him at the same time. This is no wimpy crybaby child, this is a child of a God (although he doesn’t know that at first) and he can hold his own.

Graphics

The graphics are beautiful and very realistic (see next section.) The worlds they visit are breathtaking, nature and architecture like none other. If I could walk around in those realms (without the beasts of course) I’d love to do just that. It’s more like playing a movie than playing a game. It’s amazing how far video games have come graphics wise.

Realism

Realism – droplets of water on the “camera”, sweat on their brow, shadows in the grass, veins and muscle lines on arms, things move the right way when there is air flow (such as wind), sound of armour clinking while walking, leaves falling off tree when you hit it, spittle coming out of an animal’s mouth…

It’s so realistic people have put together all the storyline videos from the game into one long video which they call a movie on Youtube.

Norse Gods

It seems like Norse Gods aren’t shown that often in movies and TV and when they are they aren’t shown nearly as well as they are in this video game. If you have any interest in Norse Mythology you will WANT to play this game.

Will it Continue?

Hints are dropped throughout the game that there may be more God of War games coming in the future, perhaps featuring other pantheons (gods from other cultures.) We are looking forward to it.
