Here’s another version of the classic Apples to Apples game. In this version, which I received in exchange for a review, you draw a card with a fill in the blank sentence and read it aloud. Then players make up their own answer and write it on their apple boards which are wet erase.
You turn your apple board over and slide it to the judge (the one who read the card) who then mixes all the answers up and reads them aloud, picking the one he finds to be the best. The winner gets to keep the card and the first person to 4 cards wins!
There is also an alternate version of play that works with 4-8 players where everyone is dealt 4 cards and then someone writes something on an apple board and then everyone picks which card from their hand that matches the best and puts it forward. The judge picks the card he thinks fits best.
So far we own 3 Apples to Apples versions but none of which is the original. This is our favourite so far as the choices are limitless. In the other versions sometimes you are stuck because nothing in your hand fits at all. In this game, your choices are only limited by your creativity.
We found nothing wrong with the game itself, our only suggestion is that the box be made smaller. The game only takes up about half the box and after you take out the plastic packaging that was only designed to keep the cards visible through the little window, it’s wasted packaging.
