Everyone knows practice makes perfect but what else can you do if you want to get better at video games? There are a few things you may or may not have thought of. This is about video games in general so they may or may not apply to the game you are playing. (This post contains affiliate links)
How to Get Better at Video Games
Watch the Opening Credits for Clues
In some games, the opening screen provides clues to gameplay. On games that don’t have full storylines like Mario games for example often show sample game play on the opening screen. Watching this can sometimes show clues of ways an item can be used or how to work around a certain character or part of a level. As an example, it was only after watching the opening screen for Super Mario 3D World for Wii U that we noticed you could pick up the plants and carry them around while they eat other bad guys in your path.
Explore Every Nook and Cranny
The best way to find hidden objects and bonus items is to explore. Try to open every door, check every corner, everything that looks different. You never know what you will find. Save your game and explore.
Watch People Play on YouTube
You can watch people play most video games on YouTube. I’m talking people who are REALLY good at the games and are making video walkthroughs. Watching some of these videos, especially for a specific level or part of the game you are struggling with can give you ideas you might not have thought of to get past a particularly difficult spot.
Read a Game Guide
You can find guides and walkthroughs for most games. There are online version on sites such as GameFaqs but you can also find many game guides in book form on certain games that contain walkthroughs and tips and hints.
